Amnesty International releases publication - On 05th August 2013, Amnesty International released a publication titled, “Uganda: Public Order Management Bill is a serious blow to open political debate” condemning the passing of the Public Order Management Bill.

The Deputy Africa Director for Amnesty International Sarah Jackson noted, “The bill represents a serious blow to open political debate in a country where publicly criticizing the government is already fraught with risk. The Ugandan government must stop trying to crush the rights to free speech and peaceful demonstration as enshrined in it’s own constitution as well as international law”
