Uganda's Parliament votes to pass the NGO Bill

Ugandan lawmakers vote to pass the Non-Governmental Organisations Bill, 2015.

Although the passed bill contained several progressive amendments as proposed by the Committee, it still retained unprecedented powers including the powers to shut-down independent groups and jail their directors and staff - for up to 3 years.
