Convened at Piato Hotel in Kampala, thirteen Ugandan and international groups released a press statement urging parliamentary committee on defense and internal affairs to reject Bill’s repressive measures and proposed criminal sanctions. “In its current form, the bill would subject independent groups to extensive and unjustified government control and interference, violate basic rights,” read part of the statement.
