Committee on Defense & Internal Affairs meets NGO Board and minister of internal affairs at Parliament

As part of another consultative process, the Committee held a meeting with the Minister of Internal Affairs and the NGO Board at Parliament in Conference Hall C.

During the meeting, the minister cautioned that despite of autonomy and independence, NGOs must not be allowed to operate like a country in another country because Uganda is a stable country with laws.

The Ag. Secretary of the NGO Board, Stephen Okello then made a presentation in rebuttal to all the concerns raised by NGOs against several provisions of the Bill.

At the end of the engagement, it was apparent that the official position of the ministry and the Board is that the NGO Bill should be passed in its current form without any amendments.
