Committee on Defence & Internal Affairs holds public hearing on the NGO Bill

The public hearing  was held at Parliament in Conference Hall C between 10:00am to 1:00pm. Purpose of the hearing was to provide the committee with an opportunity to collect comments and opinions from members of the public on the NGO Bill.

Members of the public and representatives of NGOs largely pointed out the repressive clauses in the Bill and urged the committee to amend them in respect of fundamental human rights. Some of the organizations that made presentations to the committee include FHRI, HRCUG, FOWODE, Global Rights Alert, Hunger Free Uganda, NGO Forum, HURINET, Kituo cha Katiba, among others.
