Following the overwhelming condemnation and a victorious court battle, President Museveni buckled under pressure to soft his stance on the Anti-Gay law.

He appointed a committee headed by his Vice President Edward Kiwanuka Ssekandi to come up with a new version of the law that would penalize promotion of homosexuality rather than creating criminal offences for “private” gays.
