Brief Bio

Angelo Izama serves as Strategic Advisor to Chapter Four. He splits his time between research, writing and active consulting in his areas of interest, which include extractives sector governance, political economy, minorities, media and regional security.

Currently he is working on a book manuscript on the political history of Uganda’s emerging oil sector while consulting as current affairs director at Urban Television, part of the New Vision Group.

Izama is a journalist with nearly 15 years experience and has written extensively for both local and international media including the Daily Monitor, The East African, Daily Nation, The New York Times, the Guardian and several other outlets. He is also a regular commentator on Eastern Africa energy and security matters as part of his own Think Tank, Fanaka Kwa Wote.

Izama, as a career journalist, is a holder of several prestigious awards including the Reagan-Fascell Democracy Fellowship, The Knight Fellowship at Stanford University and the Open Society Fellowship.
