This is a joint statement issued by the National Coalition of Human Rights Defenders Uganda (NCHRD-U), Chapter Four Uganda, Defend Defenders (East and Horn of Africa Human Rights Defenders Project), and the Foundation for Human Rights Initiative (FHRI) in response to the regrettable raid by pro-Kayihura mob on Makindye Chief Magistrates Court, Kampala.

In the presence of police officers, the protestors supporting the IGP forced their way into the courthouse, besieged the Chambers of the Chief Magistrate, and threatened lawyers representing the complainants in the private prosecution case against the Inspector General of Police Gen. Kale Kayihura and 7 other senior police officers.
