About Us

Approach

Our Approach

Introduction

We galvanize our legal expertise and networks to challenge human rights violations, demand legal accountability, and advocate for progressive policy and practice reform.

In the process, we employ a range of legal mechanisms to achieve our objectives.

These mechanisms range from conducting human rights investigations, offering probono legal assistance, filing strategic and public interest cases, and supporting civil society organisations to thrive in narrowing civic space.

Our Approach

Research and Investigate
We follow the evidence of human rights abuse to wherever and whoever it leads us. We carry out research and investigations in three main pillars - along thematic rights and freedoms, in support of litigation, and through the human rights violations tracker to monitor the situation and inform our early warning systems.
Litigate
We use the law to challenge repressive and discriminatory laws and practices, hold abusers and perpetrators to account, and seek redress for victims and survivors of human rights violations. We bring impact litigation to courts of law.
Advocate
We listen to those affected by human rights violations to accurately document their stories, expose violations, and bring the claims and evidence to duty bearers in compelling ways.
Generate Change
We educate, raise awareness, and rally the collective voice of our stakeholders and partners to spur sustainable change. We champion human rights thought leadership and engage with policy and decision-makers to improve human rights law, policy, and positive implementation.

Conclusion

By focusing attention where human rights are violated, our research and advocacy programs give voice to the oppressed and hold oppressors accountable for their crimes. Our targeted advocacy builds intense pressure for action and raises the cost of human rights abuse.
