This Issue Paper aims to contribute to discussions on the implications of the legal framework that provides for registration of non-governmental organisations (NGOs) in Uganda. The analysis serves as a resource for advocacy efforts aimed at advancing the exercise of inherent freedom of association through a simple ‘notification’ regime as opposed to the ‘authorisation’ system that is established through complex preliminary registration procedures.
